Ladder Diagram (LD) or Relay Ladder Logic is one of the best visual programming languages, and the most common language used to program PLCs in North America. The new CODESYS Ladder editor is available from version V3.5 SP19 Patch 3. The new editor contains all essential functions, and can be used for all applications.
- Networks can be converted from the old to the new Ladder.
- Recommendation for use:
- Keep using LD/FBD for FBD.
- Use the new Ladder editor for Ladder diagrams and new projects.
- If the existing LD POUs are stable, it is not necessary to update LD/FBD to the
new ladder.
- When reworking a project, consider updating the LD implementation. - The existing LD/FBD editor will continue to function as before.
Features such as printing and scripting will be added by the end of this year.
